For those who like water sports but don’t like losing their swimsuit while they do it, I present these chic wetsuits & rash guards. Don’t get me wrong, if you like wake boarding in a string bikini go right ahead. I’m not judging you. Maybe you haven’t tried it yet. After all, no one warned me not to wear a bikini the first time. The first time I went wake boarding and fell, I had water up my nose, my ears, and other places; but most importantly, my bikini was a pair of useless rags that were not fulfilling their purpose of covering up my body parts. Now I know better and wear one piece bathing suits, preferably wet suits.
Rashguards are the modern pool t-shirt. In the past, when I was going to be playing in the pool all day my parents would make me wear a t-shirt in the pool because no amount of sunscreen reapplication tops a layer of clothing. Now a days, you can look stylish while you protect you skin. Plus, I love how rash guards give you the surfer look.
A PilyQ rash guard in a crop-top silhouette. Subtle metallic accents add a hint of shine. Exposed front zip. Long raglan sleeves.
Boyleg and block halter neck swimsuits are all over the place. This vintage inspired swimsuit look is trending big time. Here are a few I fell in love with. I especially like the ones by Seafolly and the ruched fabric look.
Swimsuit By Seafolly made from stretch swim fabric with halterneck design to lift and enhance the cleavage, and sweetheart neckline.
I know there has been a backlash against strange cutaway swimsuits because they leave interesting tan lines. To those naysayers I say, “Are any cool looking tan lines?” I don’t think so. For those of us who are not prone to going to nude beaches (for whatever reasons) then we must deal with those pesky tan lines. So why not make it an interesting pattern while we are at it? Cutaway maillots are so cute. They add a little flair to your beach attire. Fun!
Flagpole Swim’s ‘Joellen’ swimsuit comes in a bold burgundy and crimson palette. This one-piece has a sporty cutout front and back to reveal a hint of skin. It’s made from a quick-drying Italian fabric that has built-in UPF50+ for added sun protection.
Retro inspired high waist bikini bottoms are back! Now you can recreate your grandmother’s swimsuit photograph but with a modern twist. I actually don’t have a picture of either of my two grandmas by the pool but I do have this adorable photo of my mom and her mom. It seems like everything in that moment was fantastic :) Doesn’t it? Anyhoo, here are some vintage inspired bikinis I liked!
South of France or South of the Boarder, this retro-right, ’50s-style bikini will have your selfie ready for your close up.
I decided that this summer I will go to the beach. As a South Florida local, I tend to wear jeans and sweaters while staying indoors blasting the A/C. It’s so crazy! We live by gorgeous beaches and have access to amazing pools and we don’t spend any time enjoying them. I know I have said this before; but this time it’s for realsies. To prepare for my beach going adventures I have started looking for some bathing suits. I am happy to report that the current swimsuit styles are adorable and stylish. I found so many potential swimsuits that I will be posting a swimsuit series. The first post of the series will be focusing on one piece swimsuits.
Neutral color blocking adds sophisticated glamour and slimming flattery to a one-piece swimsuit with molded-underwire cups and detachable straps that allow you to switch up the silhouette.
Part of my daily routine is to sift through all of the new arrivals for major fashion websites. I had been noticing a rise in “mechanic jumpsuity” looking items and I was thinking to myself… I like this trend. I always loved wearing dickies pants to my roller hockey practices. They were comfortable and practical; and there was definitely a look to it – a tight tank top with baggy dickies pants and skates. It looked cool. Anyhoo, I was glad to stumble upon ASOS’ newsletter announcing the Utility trend (that definitely sounds more chic that mechanic jumpsuity). Below is a round up of my top picks from the latest Utility trend.
Stretch cotton denim with V-neckline, zip through front and side zip pockets. This jumper has a skinny fit – cut closely to the body.
We are taking advantage of the ASOS winter sale. With 66 pages of items on sale, we are crossing people off our Christmas shopping list, getting our Holiday party outfits, and adding some wardrobe essentials. No code necessary, just click through and start shopping :) Enjoy the beautiful weather!
This summer retro swimsuits with a nautical air are in! I absolutely love these swimsuits with navy stripes. If you are looking for the perfect gift for a friend – with a summer birthday – these are a great option. On the other hand, summer has arrived and you might be looking for a cute swimsuit for yourself. I know I am. This year I plan to keep my promise to go to the beach at least every couple of weeks. It’s a shame to live in Miami and never enjoy the amazing beaches we have. How about you? Any plans to leave the bat cave this summer? 1. Contrast Panel Belted Bandeau Swimsuit by ASOS, 2.
