Any fans of pop culture TV shows the likes of Lost, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Parks & Recreation and The X-Files are in for a treat. Artist Patrick Fatica, has a talent for capturing my favorite characters in his paintings. The image above is Patrick’s rendition of Jack Nicholson’s character, Jack Torrance, in The Shining. In this piece, as in many of Patrick Fatica’s pieces, I am drawn to the storytelling he accomplishes through the character’s eyes. The eyes are a well of unanswered questions that draw you into Patrick’s work, leaving you admiring the details and searching for answers.
Patrick recreates Bill Murray’s coy expression in the painting, Bill Murray – Clown. His raised brows and tight lips leave the observer uncertain of whether Bill is passing judgement, confused, withholding information or trying to prevent himself from bursting into a fit of laughter.Ron Swanson frowns at your lack of bacon in disdain. The title of this piece is “I once worked with a guy for three years and never learned his name – Best friend I ever had – We still never talk sometimes.”“Welcome to Sunnydale” is a reference to the location of the TV show Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
